You don't ski? Or you would
like to spend a day away from the slopes? Give yourself a
treat and go on a wintry hike; savor tranquility!
The forests covered with virgin
snow, hours on the summits with their spectacular views,
cozy huts and white mountain pastures will let you experience
unforgettable moments. This
is a wonderful alternative to skiing for families with children.
For those who would like more
peace and quiet in winter, but still would like to
be active in sports, cross-country
skiing is the perfect alternative. Enjoy nature at
its best, untouched and romantic
as you take in the beautiful
surroundings. You will remember the wintry impressions
of snow-covered nature for a long time, just like the positive
impact cross-country skiing has on your health. No
other sport boosts stamina, strengthens body and circulation
in such an encompassing way, but is still gentle, especially
in the healthy mountain climate. The
Meransen cross-country slope will take you through
the pristine and wildly romantic
landscape of the Altfass Valley.
Covering
12 km and with a difference
in elevation of 150 m, as well as a difficulty level varying
from easy to moderately difficult, it is THE
cross-country run for lovers of tranquility and peace.
In the Pfunderer Mountains,
around the Gitschberg
and Jochtal, as well
as on the Rodenecker Alp, snowshoe
hiking is gaining more and more followers.
Recommendable are the half-day hikes in quiet, relatively
secluded areas. Information can be obtained upon request or
respectively from the Chamber
of Tourism Gitschberg-Jochtal.
