Biking fun

Active holidays on two wheels

Hop onto your saddle and cycle along the well-developed bike tracks in Valle Isarco/Eisacktal and Val Pusteria/Pustertal! Whether it’s with pure pedal power or an electric boost, a bike tour around our Panoramahotel Huberhof is uniquely wonderful. We’ve collected our highlights for you here.

From South Tyrol to East Tyrol

Biking fun knows no bounds around Meransen – or borders! Set off from Mühlbach and enjoy gentle ascents and descents as you cycle through picturesque Val Pusteria/Pustertal, along the sun road, and past charming villages, until you reach Lienz in East Tyrol, Austria. Of course, you can also take the tour in the opposite direction and extend it as far as Lake Garda!

Fitness path to Bacher hut

The Bacher hut is located above Meransen and invites you to take a break and linger. From the Valle d’Altafossa/Altfasstal car park, follow route no. 15 towards the Monte Cuzzo/Gitschberg cable car, which later becomes route no. 6. Cycle through thick forests and enjoy a beautiful panorama of Brixen and its local mountain, Plose, on route. Then, turn onto route no. 14, Möserweg, which takes you downhill. After a total of nine kilometres, you’ll reach Bacher hut.

Into Valle d’Altafossa/Altfasstal

Level: medium
1.5 hours | 10.4km | 280m elevation

Cycle from our hotel to Valle d’Altafossa/Altfasstal car park in Meransen. Continue to follow the river past lush Alpine meadows with a view of towering Gaisjoch (2,641 metres) and Monte Val di Mezzo/Fallmetzer (2,568 metres). Shortly before the end of the valley, you’ll find two huts where you can enjoy refreshments. If you’re looking for even more adventure, you can continue on foot to Laghi di Campolago/Seefeldsee, a lake fed by Rio di Campolago/Großbergbach.

To Brixner hut

Level: medium
4 hours | 32.3km | 1,518m elevation

This tour begins in Vals, around a 10-minute drive away from our hotel. Just outside the village, turn left at the reservoir and follow the dirt road to the valley station of Jochtal cable car. Follow the road until you reach the ancient Alpine village Malga Fane/Fane Alm, the perfect place for a little refreshment. Cycle on through a romantic gorge to Brixner hut. Return via the same route.

To Passo di Fundres/Pfunderer Joch

Level: difficult
6.5 hours | 43.9km | 1,783m elevation

Take the train to Sterzing. From there, cycle into Val di Vizze/Pfitschtal and on towards Fußendrass. Turn right onto route no. 17 and follow it until you reach Malga di Monte Grande/Großbergalm. Next, take route no. 17 to Passo di Fundres/Pfunderer Joch. Then, descend on trail no. 17a to Malga di Monte Largo/Weitenbergalm, continue on route no. 19 to Pfunders, and down the valley to Vintl.
