Huberhof "Green Deal" for the future

In South Tyrol, the South Tyrol Sustainability Label identifies destinations and accommodation providers that are demonstrably committed to sustainable development. Since sustainability is a long-term process, the label is divided into three levels, each requiring specific criteria to be met. The third and highest level corresponds to the standards of the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) and is therefore internationally recognised.

Level 3 represents a comprehensive approach to sustainability: our commitment covers all relevant areas of the hotel. The Huberhof has a clear sustainability strategy, a comprehensive action plan and a system for monitoring and continuously improving our measures. All relevant sustainability information is communicated transparently, and the various areas of action are certified by an independent external body.

What does this mean for our guests?
For the Huberhof, Level 3 stands for more than individual sustainability measures. It represents a comprehensive approach that includes energy, resources, purchasing, mobility, employees and our responsibility towards the local community and region.

We rely on renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies to use resources responsibly and reduce our environmental footprint.

Modern energy and heating systems, including our combined heat and power plant and heat recovery systems, energy-efficient lighting and efficient heating solutions are just some of the measures we have implemented.

Intelligent control and regulation of our systems help us use energy efficiently and avoid unnecessary consumption. In addition, we generate renewable energy directly at the Huberhof with our photovoltaic system.

By combining energy efficiency with renewable energy generation, we are continuously working to reduce our environmental impact.

Our connection to the region is reflected in many of the choices we make every day. We work closely with local producers to offer our guests fresh, regional and seasonal products. At the same time, we support the local economy and reduce transport distances.

We pay particular attention to thoughtful purchasing and planning, as well as making the best possible use of food in order to avoid unnecessary waste.

Our fresh breakfast eggs come directly from the chicken coop next to the Huberhof – produced every day, at km 0.

Our cuisine also follows the seasons and makes use of products that are naturally available in the region at different times of the year. This allows us to combine quality, freshness, short transport distances and the authentic flavours of South Tyrol.

ustainability also plays a role behind the scenes. Digital processes help us reduce paper consumption, make our workflows more efficient and use resources more consciously.

Whenever possible, we avoid paper-based invoicing: invoices are sent digitally, eliminating the need for printing. Previews and documents can also be viewed easily and conveniently on tablets.

This allows us to reduce paper consumption while making our internal processes more efficient.

We want to encourage our guests to become more aware of sustainability and to make responsible choices during their stay.

That is why we provide transparent information before arrival and offer practical tips that make it easy for everyone to contribute to a more responsible use of resources.

Our digital information allows guests to prepare for their stay conveniently while reducing paper consumption at the same time.

Guests can also read newspapers digitally, allowing us to completely eliminate printed copies.

We also choose our welcome and farewell gifts with care. Whenever possible, we favour regional products and sustainable solutions that reflect our connection to the local area and express genuine appreciation for our guests.

Avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle – these principles guide the way we handle resources.

We pay close attention to purchasing products with little or no packaging, consistent waste separation and the use of reusable materials. We deliberately reduce disposable products in order to minimise waste.

Our structured waste management includes concrete measures such as strict waste separation, the use of a waste compactor to reduce waste volume, refill systems and reusable materials.

We also consciously avoid disposable products such as single-use slippers and ask our guests to bring their own.

In our spa and gastronomy areas, we also take care to avoid unnecessary single-use plastic packaging.

Water is one of our most valuable resources. That is why we use water-saving technologies and encourage a conscious approach to water consumption.

Our measures include flow restrictors, water-efficient taps, water-saving showers and efficient toilet flushing systems. We also monitor water consumption regularly so that we can keep track of usage and identify potential areas for improvement.

Our pure mountain spring water is available fresh in a carafe during your stay or in a practical recyclable can for your excursions. Plastic bottles are no longer part of our daily routine.

When purchasing products, we pay particular attention to environmentally friendly products, short supply chains and sustainable packaging. Our aim is to combine the highest quality with the lowest possible environmental impact. To reduce single-use plastic, we consciously use reusable containers and durable materials.

We also place great importance on regional sourcing and responsible production methods when selecting our suppliers.

In this way, we aim to ensure that the products we use are not only high quality, but also as environmentally responsible as possible.

For cleaning our hotel, we use biodegradable cleaning products and environmentally friendly solutions. Where possible, we also use concentrated products with dosing systems, refill systems and products from regional suppliers.

This helps us reduce the use of products, packaging and resources while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

We place great importance on sustainable mobility and want to make it possible for our guests to enjoy their holiday without constantly relying on a car.

We offer e-bike rental and provide charging stations for electric vehicles.

We encourage our guests to use public transport from the moment they arrive and offer complimentary transfers from the railway stations in Mühlbach/Rio Pusteria, Franzensfeste/Fortezza and Brixen/Bressanone.

During their stay, guests can use the local public transport network, including buses, regional trains and selected cable cars.

This makes it possible to explore South Tyrol comfortably while travelling in a more environmentally responsible way.

We value the cultural roots of our region and are committed to preserving them.

Traditional craftsmanship, customs and local characteristics are an important part of our identity. We therefore support local festivals, celebrations and events organised by local associations through financial contributions and donations in kind.

In this way, we want to actively contribute to the local community and help preserve regional traditions.

We also take a responsible approach to resources when carrying out construction and renovation work.

We use wood, natural stone and regional materials and, where possible, work with local craft businesses.

We focus on durable solutions and long-lasting furniture, and we favour repairing rather than replacing wherever this makes sense. Our renovation projects aim to combine modern comfort and quality with a responsible use of resources.
