If you spend your holidays in Meransen, opt namely for a place blessed by 280 days of sunshine (3,000 hours of sunshine) and thus one of the most sunlit places in South Tyrol.
Located at the bottom of the Gitschberg
Meransen greets down at Muehlbach and is dominated by the Gitschberg, who gave his name to our ski resort. Winter sports enthusiasts have come to the object of their desires and also throughout the summer you can swing sticks around the Gitsch hiking, mountain biking or Nordic walking. The mountain can be reached on foot or by the 8-person cable car.
Sights of historical importance
On the high plateau of Meransen active holidaymakers can fulfill their desires to their heart’s content. But the place itself holds ready attractions for those who love cultural sightseeing. The most important is undoubtedly the parish church of St. James and St. Three virgins, a Baroque building, whose late Gothic tower dates back to 1472. According to legend, three maidens have rested fleeing from Attila the Hun very close to what a remarkable memorial commemorates. If you stay for holidays in Meransen, you can take the Lindenweg which connects all these scenes together. It starts in Mühlbach and is paved with countless granite boulders and lined with shrines of three maidens.
