Rio Pusteria/Gitschberg-Jochtal ski resort
Fantastic ski slopes, sunny heights … and pure skiing delight! On our local mountain, Monte Cuzzo/Gitschberg, you’ll find the Gitschberg ski resort, which is linked to the Jochtal ski resort just behind it by cable car and reaches heights of 1,400 to 2,500 metres. Altogether, the two resorts form the Rio Pusteria/Gitschberg-Jochtal ski resort and offer 55 kilometres of slopes, 15 lifts, two ski schools, and several ski hires. The pistes are open from the beginning of December to Easter and are especially great for beginners and families, as well as for advanced skiers, who will love whizzing down the red and black pistes – and our hotel is right at the heart!
More Fun and Adventure
In the Gitschberg Jochtal / Rio Pusteria ski area, exciting new attractions add even more variety to your day on the slopes. The Gimmy Fun Ride in Jochtal delights guests of all ages with jumps, waves and tunnels, while two Gimmy Snowparks – one at the Jochtal valley station and one at the top station of the Nesselbahn cable car – introduce children to winter sports in a playful and safe way.
On the Kidscross courses in Jochtal and on Gitschberg, skiers can sharpen their technique over rolling terrain and gentle obstacles. The Speed Check on Gitschberg measures your top speed and records your run on video. A real highlight is the Skimovie in Jochtal, where every descent becomes a personalised video complete with time tracking.
A record-breaking ski resort
Do you want to reach even higher heights while skiing? Then we recommend a trip on the Gaisjoch cable car, which takes you from Monte Cuzzo/Gitschberg into Jochtal. It offers a spectacular view of Valle d’Altafossa/Altfasstal. And that’s not all: at its highest point, it’s 93 metres above the ground, and the longest distance between two supports is no less than 538 metres – that’s an Italian record for a monocable ropeway!
Skiing off piste
Do you love carving down natural slopes through meadows and forests? That’s another unique experience around Meransen. How about a ski tour from Meransen up Monte Cuzzo/Gitschberg, for example? You can conquer the five kilometres and 1,100 metres in elevation in three hours. Once you’ve reached the top, you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular panorama – and, of course, with a thrilling descent. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, we recommend a tour from Vals up to the summit of Seefeldspitze. This ski tour is 13.5 kilometres long, covers 1,300 metres in elevation, and takes around four hours. Off you go!
